Turkish Bread was established in 2005 from an unapologetic love for bread and bonding. Travelling through Turkey in the late 1990s Ken (Managing Director) sampled the local Pide bread for the very first time.  A love affair was born for both the stone oven baked bread and the communal, casual way of eating which brought people together.

Fast forward a few years after working with NZ’s number one brand of hummus Lisa’s Healthy Foods (which sold to Sanitarium in 2005), Ken saw the opportunity to now develop a Turkish bread range in NZ for the hummus and dip loving NZ public.

Ken’s first Turkish Bread bread came out of the oven in West Auckland in 2005 with 2 bakers, baking 300 loaves a day. Foodstuffs New Zealand seeing the gap in the market, tasting the quality of the product and knowing Ken’s successful track record in FMCG, agreed to give Turkish Bread its first stands in New Zealand supermarkets.
